Three Times

Three times I tried
Until the strings came apart
Losing ends grabbing
Invisible hands
To hold
Finding blocks of air

Just grasping
Fingers passing
Touches brushing
Palms colliding
Into the final wave

I tried three times
The magic number
With no spell to cast
Because I did not know
The right words to utter

The strings unravel
Until they cover all
A net of nets
Still knotted but slack
With spaces in between
Where it is finally
Safe to tread
