The Man
with a Guitar
The man with a guitar
Knows a million songs
Which he sings off key
In a gentle voice
While stroking his cat
And watching the sky
The man with a guitar
Sings his heart out
To anyone let into his world
Of lost people and forgotten secrets
Buried in a chest of drawers
The man with a guitar
Has sung his last tune
Of sailing ships and lands stuck in time
And the blackbird came
To rest on his windowsill
Before flying off
Into the pale blue sky
